STORY: We love the eccentric wisdom that can only come from old vines. And we love the connection to history, planted circa 1910. What a treat to have these old vines still here and thriving for us to make wine from. And of course we love the layers and layers of yummy mixed berry juiciness. 100-year-old heritage vines, just off the town square in old Sonoma. All the depth and juicy red fruit you could ever want in this signature old vine Zin.
VINIFICATION: Wild yeast. Open to fermenter. Gently punched down by hand.
HARVEST: Early October 2018
Brix: 26+
ELEVAGE: 16 months in barrel, 25% new Missouri Oak.
PRODUCTION: 70 cases
TASTING NOTES — Dense and sublime, with aromas of maraschino cherries, vanilla bean, coconut husk, chocolate brownies, spearmint, and strawberry candy. On the palate, luscious and smooth with plum skin, mixed berry, dusted candy hints of lively spices with a rich creamy finish. (Enjoy 2021 - 2029. 89 cases produced.)
