VINEYARD: Jennifer Thomson’s epic family vineyard in the Carneros appellation. Cool region with early ripening. Intense summer berry freshness right off the vine.
HARVEST: Mid September 2017
VINIFICATION:: Gently destemmed, leaving the berries whole. Open top fermeters. Wild yeast. Gently punched down by hand. Gently pressed to barrel.
ELEVAGE: 9 months in barrel, 50% new French Oak (Francois Freres TG M+ 3Y if you must know)
PRODUCTION: 50 cases
TASTING NOTES – Like a bountiful summer picnic in a cool shaded forest. Baskets of blackberries, raspberries, and plums, with creme fraiche, cinnamon, herbs, burnt leaves, and rustic cured meats. On the palate, a sense of unfolding beauty, both rich and tight, with gentle raspberries and juicy cherries, broad and full, all held together with a sophisticated weave of the finest grained tannins. Stunning on the long finish. Much evolution to come. Drink now through 2029.
