Vineyard: In the heart of Napa Valley. From the grey loam soils of an ancient river bed, that allows us to virtually dry farm for the majority of the growing season. Vines that have been around for awhile and seem to magically find their own balance with minimal viticultral intervention.
Harvest: September 2, 2014
Ferment: Napa Chardonnay vinified with a nod to Traditional Burgundian techniques. Whole cluster pressed to barrel, then barrel fermented on wild yeast, wild malolactic, no stirring, no racking.
Elevage: 18 months in barrel, 30% new French Oak
Production: 50 cases
TASTING NOTES: Aromas of rich French pastries, fresh picked apples and figs, spiced with hints of exotic lychee, cracked black pepper and banana cream pie. On the palate the mouthfeel is at once wide, expansive, and vibrant, with subtly layered flavors of mandarin orange, hazel nut, lemon, crème fraiche, toffee, and a lively mineratlity that lingers in the energetic finish.
